Mani stones are stone plates, rocks and/or pebbles, inscribed with the six syllabled mantra (Om mani padme hum), hence the name "Mani stone", as a form of prayer in Tibetan Buddhism. 将观音心咒雕刻在石头上，此石头称为：玛尼石。玛尼石是藏汉语复合词。“玛尼”是藏语，来自梵文佛经《六字真言经》观音菩萨“嗡玛尼呗美吽”(汉音ong mani bei mei hong)六字真言的简称，“石”是汉语。如今，人们在石头、水晶、木器、金属等多种材质上雕刻，亦称为“玛尼石”。
